Schoolhouse Review ~ A Thomas Jefferson Education, "This Week in History"

This is a fun way to learn history as a family. Using a this day in history approach was so easy with this program and we did the lessons as a family group.

Our family loves history, it is one of my absolute favourite subjects.

So I was very excited to have the opportunity to review This Week in History from A Thomas Jefferson Education.

One of our favorite things to do is an online search for "what happened on this date".  This Week in History from TJE.org, gives me these results without my needing to spend hours searching for this information and putting together a unit.

This Week in History is much, much more than just a calendar or list of events. These are well put together ideas, that cover a wide area of topics. Each day there are many suggested activities such as books to read, writing suggestions, discussion topics, crafts, poems, photos, and links to explore.

With a subscription to This Week in History, each day’s resources are an adventure in math, science, language skills, geography, current events, the arts and so on – all tied to events in history. ~ TJE.org

You can view sample weeks on their website.

This Week in History is set up as a subscription-only area of the TJE.org website. You can go there any time to look up ideas for the coming week. Or better yet, you can sign up to have a weekly summary delivered to your email!

We used This Week in History as part of our family time studies. At some point in the day, I try for first thing in the morning we have family circle time.

This was a great time for us to work in the TJE.org history since the lessons were enjoyable for all ages! Other ways we have used this program was to go to their blog and search for our birthday.

It's really fun to see what has happened over time on the same date you were born. I also searched there for topics and found some wonderful resources to use with other unit studies.

This Week in History is a daily resource that brings your home school or classroom to life! ~ TJE.org

This program can easily work with any teaching method and is so flexible for individual learning styles as well. It would be very easy to turn these into in-depth unit studies or keep them as a light interest-led part of your day.
