Beauty In The Heart is a very in-depth Bible study for girls.  This guide not only teaches about the topic, what God says about beauty but teaches children HOW to study.

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to review Beauty In The Heart A Study Of Godly Beauty For Young Woman by Doorposts. I received the PDF eBook version that is 137 pages.

Beauty is such a sensitive topic for young girls. Really it is very natural for girls and women to want to look pretty. From the time many girls are little they are attracted to pretty colours and shiny swirly dresses.

There isn’t anything wrong with this, however, our modern culture has some very negative views on what beauty is. I have to admit that I cringe when I go through the children's clothing department, especially what has been marketed for little girls these past few years.

Beauty In The Heart is a very in-depth Bible study on beauty intended for girls age 10 to 12 years old. It can also be used as a women's Bible study and in the back of the book has a section for questions for your sons as well!

When I first received the PDF eBook, I read over it and then printed off a copy for my daughter to work on.  To do this study it is suggested you will also need:

  • An Exhaustive Concordance

  • Topical Bible

  • Bible to highlight in

  • Highlighters or colored pencils

  • Bible Atlas/maps

Many of these things can also be found online and in tablet Apps.

Beauty In The Heart is a very in-depth Bible study for girls. This guide not only teaches about the topic, and what God says about beauty but teaches children HOW to study.

Children are taught how to compare scripture verses, how to observe repeated themes and words, gather all scripture words on a topic, outline the content in a section, and much more.

When I first started using this study, I had intended for my 11-year-old daughter to do this as an independent study. However, I ran into problems with this.

This study involves quite a bit of reading and writing and it was just too much for her at this time. So what we did, for now, was to work through sections of the study orally.

We would buddy-read the sections together. I would ask her the questions and we would look through the scripture or concordance to find the answers. Often we would look up historical maps online together.

While I know this study guide wasn’t intended as an oral study, this is what worked best for us at this time.

I do plan in the future to have her work through the study again on her own when she is ready for more writing. I think that as she gets a little bit older she will gain more from the study the second time through.

I really can’t see anything about this program that I didn’t like. The writing needs were too much for our daughter at this time, however, the study was still very helpful to us.

If you are looking for an in-depth Bible study on girl’s beauty and modesty I can highly recommend Beauty In The Heart: A Study Of Godly Beauty For Young Woman.
