Kinderbach is a program I’ve looked at so many times over the years, but I had not tried it out since we didn’t have a piano or keyboard. That problem has been solved, so I was very excited to have the opportunity to review Kinderbach!
Kinderbach is beginner piano lessons for young children, ages 3 to 7 is the target range. Each lesson has a short video about 5 minutes long and worksheets to go with it. Games and of course keyboard practice are also a big part! The lessons are taught by Kerri Gregor who developed this program for her own children.
This program has 7 levels and each level has 10 weeks of lessons, so this program can last you a long time! I love that the lessons are kept short so it doesn’t tire out a young child’s attention.
Our children have LOVED using this program. It just simply makes learning to play the piano fun, and the songs and stories help to make it easy to remember.
For example, Dodi is an adorable little donkey and his house is the key between the two black keys. There are many more characters that help little ones to remember the keys.
With my older children ages 6 to 10, I was easily able to give them my laptop and the printed pages. They would take this to our table near the piano to work on their lessons.
Our older children “got it” quickly and would work through 5 or 6 lessons at a time. This program was a bit too young for my 10-year-old if she was doing it on her own. Since she was doing it as a group and “helping” her younger siblings she loved it.
For our younger ones, I’m going at a slower pace and making sure that I am with them. Besides not wanting to leave my laptop in their hands 🙂 I really want to make sure they are understanding each lesson.
Here are some examples of the printable worksheets that go with this program.
I think this is an amazing program and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a piano program for young children. If you’re interested in try out Kinderbach, the first two weeks of their program are FREE! You can find out more about that on this page, and watch a video introduction to the program.
