Fun Glow In The Dark Easter Egg Hunts!

Easter is coming up really soon, just next month!  Each spring I have fun looking for teaching resources for Easter that will help to draw our children’s hearts toward Jesus.  Compared to many families we keep our Easter celebrations fairly low key.

Fun Glow In The Dark Easter Eggs. I just love how pretty these eggs are, perfect for Easter egg hunts!

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this product for review, all opinions are 100% my own.

We don’t celebrate with the Easter bunny and I’ve normally kept the Easter candy to a minimum.  I’ve recently had the opportunity to review a really fun Easter product Egglo Entertainment!

We received from Egglo Entertainment:

  • Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs
  • The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure storybook
  • Egglo Bible Verse Stickers
  • Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls
  • The Egglo Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt Event Curriculum

Egglo Entertainment was started by Darcie Cobos who was inspired to use glowing Easter egg hunts to teach children about God’s love and the meaning of Jesus being the light of the world.  Egglo Entertainment packages are intended for children aged 4 to 13.

Glow In The Dark Easter Eggs

Glow In The Dark Easter Eggs

Glow in the Dark EggloEggs –  These are packaged in boxes of 12 eggs.  Each box contains 3 eggs of each colour blue, pink, yellow and green.  There are 2 types of eggs in this box.  One type has a raised cross design and the others are left plain so you can decorate them with stickers if you choose to.

I’m very happy with the quality of these eggs.  They are not the very thin and brittle plastic of similar style eggs we have bought before.  So far our children have not been able to brake any!  The eggs close tightly and don’t fall open either.  They are very well made and I can see they will last us a long time.

Colorful Glow In The Dark Easter Eggs

The Egglo eggs glow beautifully after following the directions.  You can “charge” them using sunlight, UV black light, fluorescent, Tungsten or incandescent light.  Depending on the type of light you use the eggs can take between 30 minutes to 1 hour to fully charge.  Once they’ve been charged they stay bright for 1 hour and start to diminish after 2 to 3 hours.

Easter Egg Story For Kids

Christian Easter Story For Kids

The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure Book –  This is a large paperback book filled with illustrations and a lot of text.  The story is about 3 children Hardy, Anastasia, Pascal and their little dog Zeke who find a glowing Easter egg in the attic.  When they touch the egg a 2 scrolls come out.

The 1st one has a scripture on it and the other scroll has a clue.  When the children solve the clue they are transported back in time to ancient Egypt.  Their adventure continues as they find more eggs with scriptures and puzzles for them to solve to be transported to another stop on the adventure.

Their adventure ends fittingly enough at the foot of a cross.  Then they return home for their own Easter Egg hunt.

Easter Egg Hunt Story

For a children’s book this is a longer story, it takes me about half an hour to read this story.  For this reason I think it’s better suited to elementary aged children.  To help my younger to age 6 and 7 sit through the story the first time I printed off some colouring pages from the curriculum guide.

This made a big difference!  Another option would be to break up the reading into smaller sections.  Since the story book is 40 pages long this would make a great bedtime read in the week leading up to Easter!

Surprises To Hide Inside Easter Eggs

Easter Egg Bible Verse

Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls –  These little scrolls come in sets of 12.  They are intended to be hidden inside the glow in the dark Egglo eggs but could be used for many other ideas.  These are printed on glossy paper and rolled up onto a tiny plastic scroll and bound with a small rubber band.  When the rubber band is removed you can carefully open the scroll to reveal the scripture inside.

Egglo Bible Verse Stickers – These are the same as the scrolls but in sticker format.  They are really nice stickers that are individually cut out.  That makes them really easy to hide inside the eggs!

Curriculum and Activities For Easter

 Egglo Easter Curriculum Guide

Egglo Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt Event Curriculum –  This is a 60 page downloadable curriculum guide that provides a church group everything they need to host a Egglo Egg hunt.  Although this guide is intended for large groups it is easily adapted to use at home.  There are resources for invitations, posters, colouring pages, decorations and scripture and egg papers to hid inside of eggs.  These are all reproducible!

Having Fun With Glow In The Dark Easter Eggs

We have had so much fun with Egglo eggs!  When our package first arrived I couldn’t keep the kids from digging in.  They all wanted to play with these pretty eggs!

Before doing the egg hunt we read the Egg-cellent East Adventure book as suggested in the program guide.  Our children really enjoyed this story.  They picked up on the character flaws of the children in the story and how the scripture scrolls were helping them to recognize and ask forgiveness.

We’ve been having little mini egg hunts.  To charge the Egglo eggs I put them under our indoor grow lights.  I left them there for about an hour.  Then we hid the eggs around the house and dimmed the lights.  We didn’t do a completely in the dark egg hunt because I was worried about the kids falling in the dark.  Since we still have over 3 feet of snow outside we had to do our hunt inside the house. The kids thought this was so much fun!

I’ve loved adding Egllo Entertainment to our Easter holiday celebrations.  I’m looking forward to using more of their ideas each Easter.  This is a great program and I would recommend it for any family or church group!
