The Resurrection Bible Study From Grapevine Studies - Review

Last year I received a Bible study about the Birth of Jesus from Grapevine Studies.

It was such a wonderful fit for our family that I was thrilled when I had to chance to try The Resurrection: Multi-Level study with the tracer pages add-on.

The Resurrection study starts with a timeline overview and then moves into a study on each step of Jesus path from the last supper.

The lessons are grouped into 11 units.

• Gethsemane

• The Religious Trials

• The Civil Trials

• The Crucifixion

• The Death and Burial of Jesus

• The Resurrection

• The Witnesses

• The Ascension

• Final Review

The study of the Resurrection starts with learning about the "evil plan" where Judas would come to betray Jesus and ends with the Lord’s ascension into heaven.

What I love about the Grapevine Studies is that they are so easy to use. I have a larger family and we, of course, want to do a family Bible study together.

Over the years as my children grew, I started to find it was difficult to find a Bible study that was interesting for my older children and also for my youngest. Grapevine Studies fill this need very well for our family!

The teacher guide walks you step by step through each lesson. The lessons are also broken down into bite-size pieces.

The lessons follow a format of reading 2 to 3 Bible verses together. Then you have a family discussion about what you've just read.

The teacher guide gives a great overview of what you can discuss if you need some help getting started. Then you draw a stick figure drawing on a whiteboard and the children copy it onto their worksheet.

Then you read the next few Bible versions, discuss again, and do any map work and drawings. This pattern repeats throughout the lesson. Each lesson also has words to look up in a Bible dictionary. I love that they list what verse the word came from as well.

I've been using 2 different student workbooks. One is a multi-level book and the other is a tracer workbook.

I love having both because sometimes my younger children want to draw their own stick figures and sometimes they just want to trace the pictures. Having the option to let them choose is great and keeps them from feeling overwhelmed.

How We Used The Resurrection Study

The Resurrection study can be used as a 1 lesson done once a week or you can do one lesson section each day. It's a very flexible program that way!

Each section of the lesson ends with your children doing a stick figure drawing narration, you can easily stop the lesson for the day if you see your children are getting tired.

Normally we spread 1 lesson over 3 to 4 days. Working this way it takes our family about 15 to 20 minutes for the reading, discussion, and drawings. If you want to use it as a once a week study it would take about an hour to work through.  This would be a great option for a co-op class or children's Bible study.

Each unit ends with a notebooking page for the children to draw their favourite part from that unit lesson.  Under the drawing area is a place to write your Bible verse copywork.

The teachers guide can be printed but to save on ink and paper I loaded my copy onto my tablet and this works great.

I love that it's one less book I need to carry around the house. If I’m working away from the kitchen where our whiteboard is then I simply use my tablet to show them the stick drawings they are to copy down.

Since we received the e-book version the only prep work for the children's lessons I need to do is print the worksheets.  I print off just 1 lesson at a time instead of the full workbook.

I find this helps me to take my time and enjoy the study rather than just trying to get onto the next page.

What Do I Think Of The Resurrection Study

Grapevine Bible studies are a true multi-level program.  It's simple to use and very visual, this makes it a wonderful fit for our family. I love that there is no prep work I need to do other than printing off the worksheets.

• Helps us discuss the Bible events in detail.

• The traceable version helps includes younger children in the lessons.

• The Resurrection study is chronological and includes accounts from multiple Gospels.

• Available as printed or e-books.

• The teacher manual is very easy to use.

• The most important thing to me is that my children really love this Bible program and are excited to work on it each week.
