Summer For A Day
Summer for a day, that is how it felt here yesterday. The weather was simply beautiful!
For the first time since August, the weather was up in the mid 20’s C. So naturally, we had to get outside and enjoy the day!
The colored leaves were blowing everywhere, making it fun for the little ones to run through. While we were outside, we decided to collect some leaves to press.
As the kids and I explored they had so much fun “teaching” me what trees each leaf belonged to.
Surprisingly some of the trees are holding on to green leaves! With all of our below 0 C days, I can’t believe this! Although most trees have lost their leaves.
When we explored in the front yard, I found an Oakleaf! It’s funny because every year we find Oak leaves in our yard but we have never been able to find this tree in town!
I wonder where they are blowing in from? Then many huge maple leaves!
The girls were very excited to find a few flowers still growing outside! Some little daisy’s hiding by the garden, and Mallow by the house.
We went exploring in the neighborhood for other leaves. Love the view here! But I think there might have been a wasp nest nearby. We were chased away by yellow jackets!
Eeeks, that is one downside to a nice fall day!
When we came home we pressed the leaves, to later add to their nature journals. Then, of course, went back outside to enjoy the rest of the day.
Today the weather is much cooler and it’s to rain for the next few days. I’m so glad we took the time to enjoy what might be our last warm day of the year yesterday.
