Paper or card stock: Use good-quality printer paper if you plan to laminate or protect the cards in some way. Otherwise, you'll want to card stock.

Laminator and laminating pouches: These are optional but will make the cards much stronger so they last longer in little hands.

If you want to use the cards for writing practice, you'll want to laminate them so they can be used with dry-erase markers. Otherwise, you could print the cards on cardstock for extra strength.

Scissors or paper trimmer: A good paper trimmer will make cutting apart your word cards quick and easy. But if you don't have one, scissors will also work.
