Would you like to help your children learn Spanish but just don't know where to start? That was how I felt too when my 10-year-old wanted to start learning Spanish.

So she was really excited when we found the Starter Set 1 from Foreign Languages for Kids by Kids.

What Is Foreign Languages For Kids By Kids?

Foreign Languages for Kids by Kids was created by Kit Strauss when she wanted to teach her children a second language and couldn't find the material she needed to help her children.

Homeschool Spanish lesson kit.

What did she do? She got her children involved and created a fun multi-sensory Spanish program for children!

What was included in our set:

  • DVD with videos for Levels 1-3

  • Three Parent/Teacher Guides with detailed lesson plans and schedules.

  • Flashcards and card games for Levels 1-3

  • Workbooks for Levels 1-3

  • Stickers for Levels 1-3

When I first received my package from Foreign Languages for Kids by Kids I was amazed by how much was included. This really is a complete multi-sensory language curriculum.

It includes 3 levels of Spanish for children they are:

  • Level 1: Basketballs Aren't for Breakfast

  • Level 2: The Little Magic House Part 1

  • Level 3: The Little Magic House Part 2

Each of the DVDs brings you into the real lives of Spanish-speaking families. So your children can learn Spanish in a fun immersive way!

The series starts with Basketballs Aren't for Breakfast. In this video, your children join 3 brothers sharing their day from breakfast time to bedtime.

When our package arrived my daughter was so excited! She wanted to dive right into the program before I even had a chance to read the teachers manuals. So I popped the DVD into our player and we all sat down to watch the first lesson together.

My younger children ages 7, 8, and 10 all loved it! My 12 and 14-year-olds thought the videos were a little too young for them but stayed to watch the first few lessons anyway.

We received 1 copy of the workbooks for levels 1 to 3 and these really don't work well to be shared among students because they are consumable. Since the copyright doesn't allow for copying I've been letting my 10-year-old use the workbooks and just doing the lessons orally with my 7 and 8-year-olds who are not strong writers anyway.

If they were ready for more writing I would definitely want to get them each their own workbooks. I'm planning on this when they are a little older.

Even doing the lessons orally with my younger children I've been impressed with how much they have learned! We have been focusing on using Level 1 with a lot of repetition to help with their retention. Since the videos are fun my children love watching them over and over again.

After we worked through the lesson video a few times we started using the flashcards for practice. I added them to our morning time basket and would select a few to practice and then do them again just before our afternoon reading time.

I have to say the kids started picking up and remembering words before I did! We also had fun using the stickers to label things from around the house.
