The Familyman's Christmas Treasury - Review
It's hard to believe but Christmas is right around the corner. Our leaves are turning brilliant colors and falling from the trees but it won't be long before it changes to snowflakes falling from the sky. Really though Christmas songs and stories are wonderful all year don't you think?
Disclosure: I received a free copy of this product for review, all opinions are 100% my own.
I can't be the only one to break out my favourite music in July! For the past month, we have been enjoying listening to some great stories from The Familyman's Christmas Treasury - Audio Collection from The Familyman these are also available as Digital Downloads.
The Familyman's Christmas Treasury is a collection of 6 audio stories written by Todd Wilson and narrated by Jim Hodges. Stories range from 15 to 30 minutes in length. That's the perfect time for car rides or an afternoon story while working on Christmas crafts.
The CD version has 6 Christmas audio stories. You can also purchase the stories as digital downloads individually the download version has 8 Christmas stories which is what our family has been using.
The stories are suitable for all ages and my children from 7 to 14 have enjoyed them very much and always ask for more!
Captain Chaos and The Manager Blaster
In Captain Chaos and The Manager Blaster, a young boy gets in trouble for arguing with his sister and is sent to bed. That night he is awakened by Captain Chaos an evil character he had created. Captain Chaos has changed history to erase the birth, of Jesus. When Jason wakes in the morning he discovers a new world without Christ.
This is a less realistic story from the group but one that my children loved. With a "superhero" flair to it, I'm sure many children will love it, especially boys!
Cootie McKay's Nativity
Cootie McKay's Nativity is one of our favourite stories. The town's nativity set is destroyed in a car accident. Cootie McKay decided to build a new one for the town while people living there are skeptical about how it will turn out. Cootie comes to find Christ while working on his project.
The Stranger
The Stranger is another favourite Christmas story of ours. In this story, a stranger comes to town and people think he's homeless and are afraid of him. He goes around the neighborhood being turned away by everyone until he turns up on the Tucker family's doorstep in a snowstorm on Christmas Eve.
The Bishop's Dream
The Bishop's Dream is a look at the true story of Saint Nicholas. In this story, we look at what Saint Nicholas might have thought of how Christmas has changed over the years. Saint Nicholas has a dream and is shown the future of the Christmas holiday and how he has become a myth.
Harold Grubbs and the Christmas Vest
Harold Grubbs and the Christmas Vest is a story about how the meanest man in town completely changed his life. His vest becomes a remembrance of the power and grace of God.
Gladys Remembers Christmas
In Glady's Remembers Christmas, Glady grows up feeling unloved and hating Christmas. Christmas time only reminds her of how happy everyone else is while she feels so hurt. Later in life, she's cleaning out her childhood home and finds long-forgotten Christmas memories that change her life.
It's Called Christmas *
In the story, It's Called Christmas a message is received from a boy in the future as a warning of what will cause Christ to be erased from Christmas and also from history.
The Secret of Snow Village *
In The Secret of Snow Village, a little girl named Catherin helps her Grandmother to make a Christmas village from cardboard and other simple things. Catherin becomes mesmerized by sitting and watching the pretty Christmas village each night. In her dreams, she is taken into the village as if it was real to explore.
* These 2 stories are not included in the CD version but are available as digital downloads.
I have to say our family has been loving these Christmas audio stories! It's so hard to find great Christmas stories that the whole family will enjoy, these are becoming part of our family traditions to listen to each year.
The stories are so well read, the voices are loud and clear with no stumbling making them lovely to listen to. I hope they make more of these Christmas stories.
