Review ~ Speekee TV

Foreign languages haven't been one of our main subjects over the years. Yes, we have worked on our French, but I would like to do more. I think learning other languages is really important!

Also, genealogy is a long-time "hobby" of mine and I have found cousins all around the world.  Sometimes the language difference makes our conversations a real challenge!

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this product for review, all opinions are 100% my own.

You never know when you will need to talk to another person, and they might not always speak the same language you do. So I was so excited when we had the opportunity to try out Speekee TV.

What is Speekee TV? It's a Spanish language program, consisting of 10 video episodes, worksheets, and activities.

The videos are done with real Spanish children, who are all speaking Spanish. The videos are subtitled and that was a help to myself and my older children who can read well.

I was surprised that my younger ones caught on easily without reading the subtitles though! The videos include conversations and sing-alongs, with catchy music.

From the Speekee TV website:

  • 10 episodes of Spanish

  • Over 150 minutes of pure Spanish learning

  • Learn Spanish from real Spanish children in real Spanish locations

  • Features songs, animation, and puppets

  • Optional subtitles in Spanish and English

  • Free activity sheet downloads

  • Great fun and extremely effective

  • Created by specialist language teachers

  • Free optional curriculum

  • Songs you can't stop singing

You can watch each video more than once, I was glad for that! Each video is about  20 minutes long and pretty fasted paced.

We watched many of them a few times. Also, each video is broken into shorter clips that focus on words or phrases to learn that week.

Included with a subscription of Speekee TV is their Speekee FastTrack. This is a weekly email that covers 40 weeks of lessons. Each week it reminds you to do your lessons and gives you 4 activities to do. There are also printable flashcards and worksheets.

We've been using Speekee TV pretty much the way it was designed, except that we are relaxed with it. Our kids enjoy watching the videos over and over again. They love Speekee, he's just too cute!

I can't think of anything we haven't enjoyed about this program. I just wish they had a French version too!! This program really appealed to my children who loved video, visual, audio, and hands-on learning.
